The objectives contained within the first 10 speeches give the new speaker the tools they need to create masterful and effective speeches.

The following are the objectives of each speech within the CC manual.
Speech Objectives:
- To begin speaking before an audience.
- To discover speaking skills you already have and skills that need some attention.
TIME: 4 - 6 minutes.
Description:
The first speech of the Toastmasters program is about introducing yourself to your fellow club members, providing a benchmark for your current skill level and areas that may need some improvement.
Speech Objectives:
- Select an appropriate outline which allows listeners to easily follow and understand your speech
- Make your message clear with supporting material directly contributing to that message.
- Use appropriate transitions when moving from one idea to another.
- Create a strong opening and conclusion.
TIME: 5 to 7 minutes
Description:
This speech introduces the speaker to the basic concepts of organizing a speech around a speech outline.
Speech Objectives:
- Select a speech topic and determine its general and specific purposes.
- Organize the speech in a manner that best achieves those purposes.
- Ensure the beginning, body and conclusion reinforce the purposes.
- Strive not to use notes.
TIME: 5 to 7 minutes.
Description:
The objectives in “Get to the Point” teach the speaker how to clearly state your speech goal, and make sure that every element of your speech focuses on that goal.
Speech Objectives:
- Select the right words and sentence structure to communicate your ideas clearly, accurately and vividly.
- Use rhetorical devices to enhance and emphasize ideas.
- Eliminate jargon and unnecessary words. Use correct grammar.
TIME: 5 to 7 minutes.
Description:
This project allows the speakers to begin examining word choice, sentence structure, and rhetorical devices to deliver an effective speech that is easy to understand.
Speech Objectives:
- Use stance, movement, gestures, facial expressions and eye contact to express your message and achieve your speech’s purpose.
- Make your body language smooth and natural.\
TIME: 5 to 7 minutes
Description
This speech will show the speaker how to complement words with posture, stance, gestures, facial expressions, and eye contact.
Speech Objectives:
- Use voice volume, pitch, rate and quality to reflect and add meaning and interest to your message.
- Use pauses to enhance your message.
- Use vocal variety smoothly and naturally.
TIME: 5 to 7 minutes.
Description:
Vocal Variety guides the speaker to add life to their voice with variations in pitch, pace, power, and pauses.
Speech Objectives:
- Collect information about your topic from numerous sources.
- Carefully support your points and opinions with specific facts, examples and illustrations gathered through research.

Description:
This project addresses the importance of backing up your arguments with evidence, and touches on the types of evidence to use.
Speech Objectives:
- To learn the value of props in speaking.
- Select visual aids that are appropriate for your message and the audience.
- Use visual aids correctly with ease and confidence.

Description:
A speaker will examine the use of slides, transparencies, flip charts, whiteboards, or props to enhance their message when delivering a speech, whether informational or inspirational.
Speech Objectives:
- Persuade listeners to adopt your viewpoint or ideas or to take some action.
- Appeal to the audience’s interest.
- Use logic and emotion to support your position.
- Avoid using notes.
TIME: 5 to 7 minutes.
Description:
This speech discusses audience analysis and the different forms of persuasion available to a speaker.
Speech Objectives:
- To inspire the audience by appealing to noble motives and challenging the audience to achieve a higher level of beliefs or achievement.
- Appeal to the audience’s needs and emotions, using stories, anecdotes and quotes to add drama.
- Avoid using notes.
TIME: 8 to 10 minutes.
Description:
The last of ten speeches, this project challenges the speaker to draw all their skills together to deliver a powerful inspirational message.
